Diagnostic Evaluation: Computer Administered

TestSTAT measures are computer administered to patients either independently, or with assistance from a staff member.
These two methods are different procedures and have separate CPT codes associated with them, but both are billable to all insurances–see the Reimbursement section. The self-administered test allows a patient to take the assessment anywhere there is a computer or tablet with internet access. They can take it in the comfort of their own home. When finished it offers immediate gratification in the form of a report they can see and and print. Another "professional" report is prepared and ready of the health care professional to view prior to or during the patient's next appointment.

The assisted version of the test allows more comprehensive assessment by obtaining actual BP readings, height & weight measurements, etc. This method is ideal, also, for less computer sophisticated patients like older people who would benefit from some help. there are always people who have little confidence in their "computer skills." The tests are adapted for touch screen simplicity. Of course, the insurance reimbursement is higher for the assisted computer testing, but this requires some space and hiring or assigning an individual to assist patients in the medical office. Since, the assistant can help several people at once, and the testing can be scheduled when office use is low (e.g., an evening or weekend) we recommend using the more comprehensive assisted method of test administration.
